In one long post: What have I been up to?

Sorry to neglect you Blog, but it's pretty busy lately. SO, what have  I been up to?

Video Work

I recently helped a buddy of mine shoot a video where he is giving a product review of a new to market spotting scope. I used a 4 light set up on the cyc wall and a two camera set up.

I've been pouring a lot of effort into project we are doing for a large manufacturing company. So stay tuned for the final edit of that dude. It's awesome! I was suspended above a 50' hoist, dirtier then I've ever been, and used a lot of cool camera techniques.

Photography Work

I had a great time running around creating some photos for AAA Landscape. They were after some cool photos to display some of work they've done.

One of the locations was this AMAZING Golf course in Owasso. I think I could have stayed there all day shooting photos of the place.

OKstrobist Group

So, I host two workshops a month and trying to keep it fresh we are exploring some pretty interesting subjects. Check it out!

Here's a little interview I did with our talent for the July 10th workshop

What goes on at an okstrobist workshop? This video sums it up.

How do you take your coffee?

My family was away and I had time on my hands and new video software. The only logical thing to do was make a video... Now, what to make a video of?

Joe McGee

Sometimes you really never know if that person you see on stage is really like that in real life. As for Joe McGee, he's 100% awesome. I had the opportunity to create some new head shots for him and the man is HILARIOUS!

The creative over at Hampton Creative are building a new website for him and I've had a behind the scenes look at it and it's a fantastic compliment to Joe and his ministry.

If you've never had a chance to listen to Joe speak, he spoke at our Mothers Day service at my church, COTM. You can find that video here. Also, check out Joe's plethora of books and audio series on his current website. (It's not the Hampton Creative masterpiece) joemcgeeministries.com

Fitness Together, Brookside

I created some photos with Fitness Together, Brookside yesterday. Great folks, there. One of the issues I faced creating these photos was the FT's Industry Standard 'One Light' set up and black and white... Don't get me wrong! I love it, but I had SO many ideas on how to make these images POP a little more. The thing is, it wasn't my place to do that. I had direction and a focused goal on this project and even though I COULD. I had to look at if I SHOULD. Just because I can do something doesn't mean I should. There's a reason behind the madness I promise.

Uniformity. It's like when you go into wal-mart or sam's club. No matter where you are in the world you know where the sporting goods section is, or where the electronics sections is. It's familiar and with FT, ALL their studios have small differences, but for the most part, are all uniform.

These photos were created for marketing purposes and will be used in a variety of different media. Thanks FT! You guys ROCK! * I'm listening to BUSH as a I write this.... #musicfail

Adobe Camera Raw Crash Course

Online Meeting! Post Processing RAW images

I’ll be hosting an online Post Processing meeting with the focus being RAW images and using Adobe Camera Raw.

Lightroom users are welcome as the control panels are similar.

Why?

90 percent of all images I work on begin inside ACR and are later moved to PS for that extra 15 percent. Let’s face it, we need go give it 105 percent to separate us from everyone else. We need to be unique enough that our work shines brighter then the saturated market of mediocrity we are faced with. We can’t settle to just be good at making pictures, but to be the best!

Meeting Focus:

We are going to explore the control panel and how to best utilize the tools it offers. This is going completely change your workflow and productivity, and YES, I’m speaking from experience!

Meeting Size:

15 people will be able to participate in this meeting.

Meeting Date:

Monday May, 31st

Meeting Time:

8:30pm - 9:30pm

Meeting Cost: $20

Meeting Length: 1 hour

What to expect:

Viewing of hosts screen and listen to training through your computer speakers.

Book Cover Shoot

I had a chance to shoot a book cover the other day and I was really excited about doing it. The book is about a cop that looses everything ,and without giving anything away, takes the law into his own hands...

So this shot was based off of a scene in the book. Some of the issues I faced with this project was that I knew that there was going be a large amount of negative space needed so the designers could lay everything out. In photography the name of the game is fill the frame, but in this case, less was more! The instruction I received from the author was he only wanted a hint of light on the badge and nowhere else...Um, okay no problem, I say. Some quick thinking and 5 shots later. There ya go!

What’s really great about this shoot is that it literally took us 20 minutes. Sometimes thing just come together quickly and I was grateful!

He’s still in the beginning stages for publication, but when he’s up and running I’ll spill the beans of the books name and link to it.

My new cards!

Introducing MY Business Card. It’s a little different, but I’m okay with that... Your card communicates so much about you and the business. If someone hands you a perforated business card they just printed off of their inkjet bubble jet printer you automatically assume that this person is NOT legit. You’ve already ‘judged’ them. They may have the best product on the market that’s going to make your business explode! But, you’ve already disregarded what they have to say or can do because if they can’t represent themselves well how the heck are you going to do a good job for you?! It’s kind of like that ‘handshake.’ We’ve all met that person that shakes your hand like a dead fish and won’t look you in the eye... You know what I’m talking about! Does that person give you confidence? Me either...

Put some time into your cards...
